Description

Working in a growing private psychiatric practice in the heart of Irvine, the psychiatric PA will support the physician in the care of new and established patients to the practice. Working within the scope of their license, the PA will complete an assessment, formulate a diagnosis and establish a treatment plan for each patient. The PA will also prioritize building a relationship with each patient, taking the time to listen and provide feedback.  They will be comfortable at providing cutting edge treatments for the full spectrum of mental health diagnoses.  They will be open to learning and mastering new skills in the field of psychiatry, including Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and Esketamine treatment.  They must be prepared to provide high quality, patient centered care. The ideal candidate for the position is a professional, goal-oriented self-starter with strong interpersonal skills and the desire to advance the practice and their role. 

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from a Physician Assistant training program
  • Current License in good standing by the Board of Medical Examiners of California
  • Current and active DEA license
  • 5+ years of work experience
  • 2+ years of experience in a psychiatric setting
  • TMS experience a plus but not required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft 365
  • Experience with EHR software
  • Basic understanding of working with insurance companies
  • Experience and ability to interact well with patients and patient families.

Skills:

  • Able to consistently provide thorough health assessments, diagnosis and treatment in the psychiatric setting under the supervision of the medical director.
  • Ability to choose appropriate pharmacologic treatment for complicated patients.
  • Can clearly communicate with patients regarding their treatment options and guide them in making informed decisions.
  • Consistently and accurately tracks patient encounters and billing codes.
  • Ability to keep EHR current with completed documentation.
  • Patient and compassionate with a good bed-side manner.
  • Punctual and reliable.
  • Ability to multitask with a strong attention to detail.
  • Strategic critical-thinker and problem-solver.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and organizational skills.

Requirements:

  • Specific interest in psychiatry/mental healthcare.
  • Professional appearance and manner.
  • Available at minimum 32 hours/week.
  • Must have a National Provider Identifier (NPI)
  • Must be able to complete TMS certification (training provided) within the first two months of employment.
  • Must have or be willing to complete training in providing esketamine treatment.
  • Must have or be willing to obtain BLS certification.
  • Must strictly follow all HIPAA and confidentiality requirements.
  • Must be willing to follow all CDC guidelines for healthcare settings.
  • Must be fully vaccinated against COVID 19
